Clearwater National Forest, Idaho

Secrets lie buried in Clearwater National Forest, Idaho. But the cheap traveler helped un-earth one of them. Along with other volunteers from the USDA Forest Service's Passport in Time program, a World War II plane that crashed on a training mission in a snowstorm started revealing its secrets.

Clearwater, in northern Idaho, has plenty of hiking opportunities. And Moscow, about an hour away, has a walkable downtown with an independent bookstore that feels like a throwback to the 1940s.

With two major universities nearby, there is never a lack of things to do.

Details to come.
